Event Recap: Vegan Soul Food

Event Recap: Vegan Soul Food

We kicked off Jikoni’s on-going African Diaspora event series with a hands on Vegan Soul Food cooking class taught Jenné Claiborne of Sweet Potato Soul.

Hosted at our Los Angeles studio, attendees learned how to make jackfruit jambalaya, low country grits, and smoky collard greens.

The event ended with a book signing of her cookbook, Sweet Potato Soul.

Jenné Claiborne, vegan chef, blogger, and author of the Sweet Potato Soul cookbook, is known for creating healthy and easy-to-make vegan recipes. She has a popular Youtube channel, also called Sweet Potato Soul. She went vegan for ethical and animal welfare reasons, and was pleasantly surprised by the way in which it improved her health and happiness. Jenné has been featured on several shows and in various other media outlets, including The Today Show, the New York Times, Washington Post, and more. You can find her recipes on SweetPotatoSoul.com and in her cookbook, Sweet Potato Soul.

In Swahili, Jikoni means kitchen. At our core, that’s what we are. A space to cook, to share, to create.
