It is a spicy chili blend that is paired with most of East Africa’s classic street food, from our seasonal sweet and sour mangoes to roast corn and steamed cassava. Its bright well-balanced flavor brings out the best in any roasted or barbecued dish.

East African Street Chili (Pilipili Mwitu)

Ingredients

¼ cup red chili flakes

¼ cup of salt

1 tablespoon dried mixed herbs

1 tablespoon of smoked paprika

1 teaspoon of lemon zest

1 teaspoon of granulated sugar


Instructions

  1. Pour your teaspoon of sugar into a spice grinder and grind into a powder consistency.

Notes

  • Serve with lemon halves for chili application
